ACER’s Erin Wynands Discusses New Publication on Lameness Management
Addressing lameness on dairy farms is a complex challenge. To help improve management, a recent University of Minnesota study led by Gerard Cramer and Erin Wynands brought together veterinarians, hoof trimmers, and nutritionists with farmers to collaboratively tackle lameness. The study found that these joint lameness management team meetings facilitated productive discussions, deepened problem understanding, and led to tailored solutions, motivating farmers to enhance lameness management practices.
Research Funding Announcement
Dairy Farmers of Canada Announce Dairy Research Cluster 4 Funding
DFC has officially announced Dairy Research Cluster 4: For a sustainable dairy sector. This five year, 13 million dollar initiative will support a number of research projects on topics relating to greenhouse gas reduction and carbon sequestration; antimicrobial resistance and stewardship; genetic improvement; dairy processing innovation; and more. This next phase of dairy research will play an integral role in contributing to the dairy industry’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Our team at ACER is excited to see how this next phase will continue to drive innovation and research excellence in the Canadian dairy industry.
